HAGUE — The Rev. Donald B. Buchanan, 72, of Hague, passed away suddenly along with his wife, Juanita L. Buchanan, on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, in Albany as a result of an automobile accident.
Born and raised in Enid, Okla., Sept. 14, 1934, he was the son of the late B.B. and Mary (Comer) Buchanan.
Rev. Buchanan was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
After graduating from the University of Washington, he began a career with State Farm Insurance Company. While living in Porterville, Calif., he met and married Juanita (Brewer) Sandmeyer and began a new ministry as Pastor of the Hague Baptist Church in Hague, N.Y., where he and Juanita spent the last six years. He is loved and will be missed by family and countless friends.
We can all celebrate with Don and Nita that they arrived in their new home.
He was predeceased by one son, Douglas S. Buchanan; one brother, Robert Buchanan; and one sister, Anna Lee Howell.
Survivors include one son, Jonathan A. Buchanan and his wife Cyndie of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Jerry Buchanan of New Mexico, Brad Buchanan of Norfork, Ark.; and one sister, Sue Willis of Crossett, Ark. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Joy Buchanan, Rebecca Buchanan, Rachel Buchanan and Paul Buchanan.
A memorial service will take place on Monday, at 10 a.m. at the Hague Baptist Church. The Rev. Nelson Waters and the Rev. Bruce Tamlyn will officiate.
Interment will take place at a later date at the Saratoga National Cemetery.
