The Auxiliary Distributions Committee of the Foundation of CVPH Medical Center is offering nine scholarships to local high school seniors. Each scholarship (one at each participating high school) of $750 will be awarded to a graduating senior who is pursuing a career in health care including nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc.Application forms can be obtained from high school guidance counselors. PLATTSBURGH — An orientation and informational meeting for prospective foster/adoptive and respite parents will be held on Tuesday, April 17. PLATTSBURGH — The Champlain Valley Council of Retired Teachers has announced the 2007 Jane Boswell Memorial Scholarship. The group is offering a $500 scholarship to two seniors attending a public high school in Clinton County, Essex County or Saranac Lake who plan to go into the teaching profession.Students should go to their high-school guidance counselors for a scholarship application and information.Include your name, home address, high school and the college you plan to attend. Three character references are required, one from a faculty member, one from a successful community member and one of your choice.Also include a list of extracurricular and community activities and an essay of at least 150 words but no more than 250. The essay should include why you want to teach or what motivated you to become a teacher, an explanation for the need for this scholarship and why you chose the college that you would like to attend.
