TROY — The Plattsburgh State Track & Field teams had strong showings at the RPI Quadrangular Invitational on Saturday.
Samantha Paul and Amanda Stewart each had three SUNYAC qualifiers to lead the way for the women's squad.
Paul took a first place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:30.12, a second place finish in the 200 meter dash (27.30) and was part of the 4x100 relay with Kathryn O'Leary, Amber Heath and Megan Briddell that finished third (53.36).
Stewart took third in the shotput (10.40m) and sixth in both the discus (30.81m) and hammer throw (36.37).
O'Leary added a first place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.55. Shannon Young was also a winner with an 11.20 meter toss in the shotput.
Nicole Howard finished second in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 5:07.56 while Brianna Catts took second in the discus (34.25m) and Emily McLaughlin took fifth in the shotput (9.11m).
On the men's side, John Daly had a pair of top six finishes to lead the way.
Daly captured the long jump with a jump of 6.55 meters. He also took sixth in the javelin throw with a toss of 45.19 meters while Colin Aprill took fourth in the same event with a throw of 46.97 meters. .
Jason Guennel took second place in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:00.36 while Jordan Bieber finished fourth with a 1:01.25 time.
Andrew Hunsinger, Doug MacAlpine, Kevin Kieper Dan McIlrath took fourth place in the 4x100 in a time of 46.08.
The Cardinals will compete next weekend at theHamilton Spring Fling Invitational that is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
