Courneene wins April Fool's Run

POINT AU ROCHE — Brendan Courneene ran a 23:50 Saturday and was the actual overall winner in Saturday's April's Fool's (Leprechaun Leap) Four-Mile Fun Run/Walk.

Plattsburgh Little League sign-ups tonight

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh Little League sign-ups will be held tonight from 6-7:30 p.m. at Stafford Middle School. The league is open to city and Town of Plattsburgh residents ages 7-12.

Chateaugay Bowl wins Malone A hoop title

MALONE — Jason LaPlante scored 32 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Chateaugay Bowl to a 78-66 victory over Cantwell & Cantwell for the A Division championship in the Malone Adult Basketball League Saturday. Nate Bilow added 18 points, Mike Martin 15 points and Dan Bernard 16 rebounds for Chateaugay Bowl. Mike Burnell led Cantwell & Cantwell with 22 points, followed by Craig Carriero with 13 and Andre Poirier, 11.
Wayne Palmer tossed in 24 points, while Brad Dufrane added 19 and Jamie Durant 13 as Kyna Different Pub won the B Division title with an 81-71 win over Adirondack Alarms. Bill Benare led Adirondack Alarms with 19 points, followed by Mark Robinson with 17 and Kevin Walbridge, 14.
The C Division final went to 21st Century Construction with an 87-83 victory over JR Construction. Justin Todd led the winners with 44 points, including 16-for-16 from the foul line, and 11 rebounds. Corey King added 15 points, Chris Haynes 12 and Jeff Durant 10 for the winners, who rallied from a 51-32 halftime deficit. Cory Russell accounted for 30 points and 18 rebounds in a losing effort, while Chad Farmer added 19 points, Josh Russell 16 points and nine assists, and Eli Poirier, 11 points.
Dave Barnett scored 20 points, while Jim Heden added 18 and Brian Monette 12 as Adirondack Energy defeated King Clark Insurance, 71-59, for the D Division championship. Michael Marshall tallied 20 points and Evan McGibbon 19 in a losing cause.
The women's championship went to Jreck Subs/Akwesasne with a 67-23 victory over Mountain Mart. Brianna Herne led the way with 22 points, followed by Babette Herne with 18 points and 10 rebounds, Shannon Hall 14 points and Jess Hopps, eight assists. Carolyn LaPage accounted for 13 points for Mountain Mart.

Deadline Thursday for officials dues

PLATTSBURGH — Due to the re-scheduling of the basketball banquet to Thursday, payment of soccer and basketball officials dues, without penalty, has been extended to Thursday.
CCCSOA soccer officials and IAABO and GBOA basketball officials can pay their dues at the banquet or deliver them to the secretary/treasurer, at 21 Concord Avenue, Plattsburgh, 12901.

Malone Golf Club to offer fitting sessions

MALONE — PGA Professionals Derek Sprague and John Dotte, of the Malone Golf Club, will offer free 15-minute fitting sessions, by appointment, in conjunction with PGA Free Fitting & Trade-Up Month.
Throughout the month of April, participating PGA Professionals will provide golfers the fit to ensure the equipment they currently own, or the equipment they plan to purchase, is the right fit for their game.
"There are so many things that you can learn in a 15-minute fitting session," said Sprague, General Manager of the Malone Golf Club, "This is a great opportunity for anyone, from the beginner to the scratch golfer, to come out and get expert equipment advice from PGA Professionals here at the Malone Golf Club."

PFC, Saratoga win in girls' soccer tourney

PLATTSBURGH — Saratoga won the U-12 championship and the Plattsburgh Football Club Strikers claimed the U-14 title in Sunday's girls' soccer tournament, hosted by Plattsburgh State at the Plattsburgh State Soccer Complex.
Saratoga recorded a 2-1 overtime win over Nordic U-11 in the championship game. In the semifinals, Saratoga posted a 2-1 overtme victory over Far Post, while Nordic U-11 advanced with a 3-2 overtime win over Nordic U-12.
In the U-14 championship game, the Plattsburgh Football Club Strikers were a 3-2 overtime winner over the I.H.C. Blizzard from Watertown. In the semifinals, the Strikers recorded a 2-1 win over the Plattsburgh Football Club, while the I.H.C. Blizzard defeated Soccer United, 3-1.
