COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Junior Josh Dupuis (Tupper Lake) won two individual events as the SUNY Brockport outdoor track and field teams competed at the 2007 Maryland Terrapin Invitational at College Park, Md. over the weekend.
Dupuis took first in the shot put with a throw of 53 feet, 8½ inches. The throw was a school record and a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Championships. He also won the discus event with a toss of 153'0", a personal-best for the junior.
The weekend's performance earned him State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
The junior is coming off a successful indoor season in which he earned All-American honors in the weight throw, finishing third and helping the Golden Eagles finish fourth at the NCAA Championships in Indiana.
Dupuis finished ninth at the 2006 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship finals He missed eighth and NCAA All-American by just two millimeters. In the 2006 at the Indoor National Championships, Dupuis set a school record, with a throw of 16.8 meters, finishing sixth.
The Golden Eagles return to action Saturday at the University of Rochester.
