TROY — The North Country Community College women's softball team opened its season Monday, dropping two games at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.
The Saints lost the opener 11-0. Freshman Kayla Carlozzi pitched a complete game for NCCC, striking out one. The Saints were unable to pick up a hit against the pitching of Hudson Valley's Tracy Chesebrough, who tossed a perfect game.
In the nightcap, the Saints managed to snap out of their offensive woes. Freshman Amanda Demers ripped a double off the fence that nearly left the park to lead off the second inning.
In the fourth, the Saints scored their only run after freshman Dana Pelkey laced a double to left field, and scored on an RBI single from sophomore Jackie Sullivan.
That was it for the Saints who lost the second game 19-1.
Freshman Judi Durkin pitched the complete game, striking out two, only giving up six earned runs.
