BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. — Kayla Byerly of Morrisonville won the 8-10 age group in Level 7 at the 2007 Vermont State USA Gymnastics Championship last weekend at Bellows Falls Union High School.
Byerly, 9, earned an all-around score of 35.725. Her 9.5 in floor exercise was the highest score in any event in all age groups. Byerly placed first in vault (8.55) and second in bars and beam (9.075 and 8.6, respectively).
The fourth-grader has trained for two-and-a-half years at Hruska's Gymnastics Academy in Winooski, Vt. Byerly, who has been doing gymnastics since age two, trains four days a week.
