ELIZABETHTOWN — The Adirondack Community Action Program of Essex County is seeking applicants for weatherization funds for the 2007-08 program year.
The Weatherization Assistance Program assists income-eligible families and individuals by reducing their heating/cooling costs and improving the safety of their homes through energy-efficiency measures.
The measures performed through the program include air sealing (weather stripping, caulking, foam sealing) wall and attic insulation, heating system improvements or replacement, efficiency improvements in lighting, hot-water tank and pipe insulation and refrigerator replacements with Energy Star-rated models.
Residents can use the following annual-income guideline to determine if they may be eligible for ACAP Weatherization services: Household of one, $21,171; household of two, $27,686; household of three, $34,200; household of four, $40,714; household of five, $47,228; household of six, $53,743; household of seven, $54,964; household of eight, $56,185; household of nine, $57,407; household of 10, $60,600; household of 11, $65,700; and for each additional person, add $5,100.

The Weatherization Program is funded annually by the U.S. Department of Energy. In addition, the program also receives funds from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, funded by the U.S. Health and Human Services. It also works alongside NYSERDA's EmPower NY Program.
The Weatherization Program is administered by New York State Division of Housing.
