MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Ticonderoga girls' softball team suffered a 15-1 setback to Turpin, Ohio Tuesday during the pre-tournament seeding games for the Grand Strand Softball Classic.
Casondra Collins suffered the pitching loss for the Sentinels recording three strikeouts and three walks. Cheryl Meserve led the way from the plate with a double.
Ticonderoga scored its only run of the contest in the third inning. Morgan Johnson singled, but was forced out at second on Anna Besson's fielder's choice. Besson, however, stole second and scored on Sam Cawley's RBI single.
"We faced a really fast pitcher (on Monday)," Sentinels head coach Shannon Huntington said. "Today, the girls were overswinging against Phillips."
Ticonderoga will meet up with Wall, N.J. today at 9:30 a.m. as the pre-tournament seedings continue. Wall defeated Turpin, 8-0, in an earlier meeting.
