LAKE TAHOE, Nev. — Plattsburgh eighth-grader Alyssa Dolgin finished 14th out of 39 competitors in the 12-13-year-old class at the USASA National Snowboarding Championships in Lake Tahoe last week. It was an overall finish in the combined slalom and giant slalom snowboarding event.
Dolgin, 13, had the 13th-fastest qualifying time in the separate snowboarding event and was leading her semifinal heat until she missed a gate. She wound up fifth, placing her 18th, overall.
Bud Keene, the 2006 U.S. Olympic team head coach, was thrilled with Dolgin's performance after only 2½ months of training.
Dolgin, who trains at Stowe and skis for the Mount Mansfield Snowboard Club, will go to France in July for two weeks of summer training.
