MYRTLE BEACH — A day removed from a bad 15-1 loss at the hands of Turpin, Ohio, the Ticonderoga girls' softball team put together a solid performance against Wall, New Jersey.
The Sentinels, however, couldn't come away with a victory, suffering a 6-5 loss in their final pre-tournament seeding game in Myrtle Beach.
Laura Olcott pitched very well for the Sentinels, but ran into control problems in the fourth inning. Leading 3-2 after three innings, the Sentinels ran into some problems with mother nature.
Olcott walked four batters, three of which scored as Wall took a 6-3 lead. Wall held of Sentinels' rally in the bottom half of the inning before the game was cut short because of pouring rain.
"It was a good game," Ticonderoga head coach Shannon Huntingon said. "We swung the bats well and hit the ball hard. We are doing what we wanted to do down here an things are coming along.
"They were undefeated and we hung with them and did a good job."
The Sentinels will begin their Grand Strand Softball Classic against Canandaigua today at 8 a.m.
