Ticonderoga wins in South Carolina tourney PDF Print E-mail

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Anna Besson delivered the game-winning hit and Casondra Collins pitched a one-hitter Thursday to lead Ticonderoga to a 3-1 win over Canandaigua in the Grand Strand Softball Tournament.
Collins struck out four, walked three and allowed only a second-inning single to losing pitcher Margaret Scott.
Besson broke a 1-all tie with a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth inning. She finished with two of Ticonderoga's five hits.
Aileen Granger drove in the Sentinels' first run with a slap single in the second.
Granger, Collins and Besson were also defensive standouts in the win.
The Sentinels are 2-2 on their southern trip and will play St. Aquinas of Ohio today as part of a four-team playoff in their division.
