PLATTSBURGH — United Way of Clinton and Essex Counties Inc. has finalized its allocations for 2007.
The committee's recommendations were recently approved by the Board of Directors.
"I was impressed with the work of the Allocations Committee, their level of professionalism and their commitment to our community," Executive Director John Bernardi said in a news release.
In addition to the allocations, two new community partners were approved: Adirondack Experience Inc. of Lake Placid and Comlinks Community Action Agency.
United Way also elected three new board members at its annual meeting: Moriah Town Supervisor Thomas Scozzafava, Jay Town Supervisor Randy Douglas and Jonathan Whitehouse, account executive at Northern Insuring.
"They are three outstanding individuals, and we are truly fortunate to have them serving our important mission," Bernardi said.
The nominating committee, chaired by Shirley O'Connell of Plattsburgh, presented the three candidates to a large group of friends, supporters and partners at the annual meeting.
"We have a very strong and active Board of Directors that will be further enhanced by our new members," Joyce Rafferty, board president, said in a statement.
The 2007 allocations are:
Adirondack Community Action Programs: $22,500.
Adirondack Council of Boy Scouts: $14,000.
Alzheimers Disease Assistance Center: $10,662.
AuSable Valley Habitat for Humanity: $5,000.
Behavioral Health Services North: $64,500.
Champlain Children's Learning Center: $10,000.
Champlain Valley Family Center: $20,000.
Child Care Coordinating Council: $20,000.
Compassionate Friends: $3,600.
Champlain Valley Educational Services Career Pathways Program: $4,500.
Elizabethtown Social Center, Inc.: $1,797.
Families First in Essex County: $20,000.
Girl Scouts of the North Country: $17,000.
Greater Plattsburgh Interfaith Hospitality Network: $15,000.
Hospice of the North Country: $45,160.
Joint Council for Economic Opportunity: $18,000.
Literacy Volunteers of Clinton County: $15,000.
Literacy Volunteers of Essex/Franklin County: $9,000.
Mental Health Association in Essex County: $23,060.
National Association for the Mentally Ill of Champlain Valley: $25,000.
North Country Association for the Visually Impaired: $13,500.
North Country Center for Independence: $15,000.
North Country Life Flight: $22,000.
North Country Traumatic Brain Injury Center: $2,155.
Plattsburgh YMCA: $21,500.
RSVP of Clinton County: $11,000.
RSVP of Essex County: $10,000.
Senior Citizens Council: $11,338.
Spirit of Independence Therapeutic Riding Center: $1,666.
Substance Abuse Prevention Team: $6,000.
Ted K. Community Center (Plattsburgh Housing Authority): $18,000.
Thomas Shipman Sr. Memorial Youth Center: $5,000.
United Way of Clinton & Essex Counties: $89,396.
