AVCS School Board to adopt budget

CLINTONVILLE — The AuSable Valley Central School Board will meet at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Middle-High School auditorium in Clintonville.
It is anticipated that an executive session will begin after the presentations, followed by the regular session.
The board will consider policy changes, special-education recommendations, date for reorganization meeting, adoption of the 2007-08 budget and personnel issues.
The meeting is open to all.

Food package available in Essex County

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Extra Helpings Program has a food package and several special offers available for May.
Extra Helpings, $20: Angus beef patties, boneless chicken breasts, chicken cordon blue, bratwurst with cheese link, onions and potatoes.
Special 1, $19.50: 10-pound box of home-style 100-percent beef patties.
Special 2, $17.50: 10-pound box of fresh boneless skinless chicken breasts.
Special 3 meat box, $30: boneless spare ribs, salisbury steak, beef patties, chicken tenders and maple-flavored breakfast sausage links.
Payment is due in cash by May 9. There is no age or income limit to participate in the program. Orders will be picked up May 23 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd Parish Hall, Williams Street, Elizabethtown.

Schroon Lake Chamber seeks nominations

SCHROON LAKE — The Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce is planning its celebration for the Citizen/Organization of the Year 2007.
Established in 1976, this award honors an area resident or organization who has made a significant and sustained contribution to the quality of life in Schroon Lake.
The Chamber of Commerce will honor this person or organization at its annual dinner in June.
To make a nomination, write a letter and include the accomplishments for which this person or organization should be honored. Details of the achievements, volunteer endeavors, personal characteristics, community support and efforts toward quality-of-life improvements will be considered.
The nominee need not be a chamber member but must reside in the Town of Schroon, North Hudson, Paradox or Severance.
Any individual or organization may submit a signed letter of a nomination to the Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 726, Schroon Lake, NY, 12870 by May 7.
