PERU — Tara Lynn Defayette and Matthew Brian Lagner were married Oct. 21, 2006, in St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Peru, by the Rev. Alan Shnob.The bride is the daughter of Ken and Vicki Defayette of 7 LaFlure Lane, Peru. The bridegroom is the son of Brian and Hope Lagner of 176 Douglas Pike, North Smithfield, R.I.Michelle Hanlon of Lindenhurst was matron of honor. Best man was Dennis Corsini of North Providence, R.I.Bridesmaids were Carrie Bedore-Long of Peru; Lauren Defayette of Schenectady, sister-in-law of the bride; Kristen Defayette of Buffalo, the bride's cousin; and Michelle Wheeler of Tujunga, Calif., sister of the bridegroom. Mia Stella Defayette of Schenectady, the bride's niece, was flower girl.Ushers were Alan Smith of Plainfield, Conn.; Todd Defayette of Schenectady, brother of the bride; and John Lagner of East Northport and Joseph Lagner of Pembroke, Mass., the bridegroom's cousins. Ring bearers were Jake Thomas Defayette and Jack Michael Defayette, both of Schenectady, nephews of the bride.Gifts were presented by the mothers of the bride and bridegroom. Program helpers were Cody LaDuke, Aubrey Walden and Brock Walden, the bride's cousins. Musicians were Jeanette and Steve Woodruff.A reception was held at the Comfort Inn in Plattsburgh.Tara Lagner graduated from Peru Central School in 1997 and Plattsburgh State in 2001 with a degree in elementary/special education. She is pursuing a master's degree at Providence College and is a special educator at Old County Road Elementary School.Matt Lagner graduated from North Smithfield Jr./Sr. High School in 1995 and Motoring Technical Training Institute in 1997. He is owner and operator of Matt's Landscaping in Rhode Island.After a wedding trip to Aruba, the Lagners reside in Rhode Island.
