RAY BROOK — A teenager was charged with a felony after allegedly striking another student.
State Police in Ray Brook said Christopher Groves, 16, of Peru, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Groves, a student at Mountain Lakes Academy in Lake Placid, allegedly hit another student several times with a belt, causing a gash.
The incident happened at the school Sunday night.
Groves was arraigned in North Elba Town Court and sent to the Essex County Jail with bail set at $2,500.
