CAPE COD, Mass. — The Eastern College Athletic Conference has selected Anthony Williams of Plattsburgh State as the ECAC Division III Upstate Men's Basketball Player of the Year, signaling the fifth major 2006-07 postseason award for the 6-foot-1 junior guard from Brooklyn.
Previously, he has been named an NABC third-team All-American, State University of New York Athletic Conference Player of the Year, All-East Region First Team and NABC East All-District First Team.
Williams, of Paul Robeson High School, averaged a SUNYAC-leading 21.6 points, 4.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game. He helped the Cardinals to a 21-9 mark (school record for victories in a season), second consecutive SUNYAC championship and first NCAA Tournament win since 1976 in their second straight trip to the Division III tourney.
