Malone man charged after standoff with police

MALONE — A Malone man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly firing a shot in the direction of another man's home.
According to State Police in Malone, Scott R. Smith, 31, reported that William J. Sousie, 61, had fired one round from a hand gun near his house.
Sousie then left the area in a black pickup truck. Police found the truck at Sousie's Malone residence.
Sousie initially refused to leave his home when police arrived, State Police said, and he made threats to harm himself and police.
Police surrounded the house, and State Police crisis negotiators were called in.
State Police said they were able to convince Sousie to surrender without incident.
Sousie was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, a felony. He was arraigned in Malone Town Court before Justice John Marsden and committed to the Franklin County Jail.
Bail was set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
Police and the Franklin County District Attorney's Office were continuing an investigation.
