NCCC to host Kids' Fun Night Saturday

SARANAC LAKE — The North Country Community College Athletic Department is offering a Kids' Night Out, Saturday at the Sparks Athletic Complex. Children ages 5 to 12 can participate in a variety of activities supervised by coaches and student-athletes.
Among the activities offered are swimming, basketball, kickball, soccer, and more. Children will be organized by age. The event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.
Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Children who choose swimming for an activity, must be able to swim independently free of any flotation device. Parents must give permission for this activity.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. However, walk-ins will be accepted and children may register at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per child. Proceeds will benefit the North Country Saints Athletic Department.

City Babe Ruth final registration tonight

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh Babe Ruth baseball will hold its final registration for all new and returning players Thursday, from 5-7 p.m., at Stafford Middle School. Any player age 13-15 is eligible to register.
The cost is $55 for city residents and $85 for non-residents. Proof of age and residency will be required. A limited number of spots are available.

Baker second at Spartan wrestling tourney

ROCHESTER —Robert Baker represented the local wrestling club TEAM K.O.P in Rochester at the Spartan High School wrestling tournament.
Baker won two matches before falling in the finals 5-0 against James Montenaro.


Northern Lights Track Club to meet tonight

Bowl Mart to hold singles tournament Friday

CHAMPLAIN — Bowl Mart Lanes will hold a singles tournament on Friday night at 8 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the bowlers participating in the state tournament in Syracuse. Participants will bowl two regular games and two nine pin games. For more information, call Bowl Mart at 297-6106.


City holding girls' softball registration

PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department is accepting registration for girls' softball at 52 U.S. Oval on the base. There is no fee and registration is open to city residents only. Registration hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.


Hartmann leads way in over-30 hoops

PLATTSBURGH — Chris Hartmann tallied 28 points to power Handy Dandy Home Improvement to a 72-66 victory over Jim Lincoln Construction in the City of Plattsburgh Over-30 Basketball League. Tim Barnewall scored 23 points, J.P. Mason 18 and Jeremy Goff 11 for Lincoln's.
Ken Hackett scored 20 points, while Gabe Girard added 15, Steve Gratto 13 and Eric Caron 11 in Gratto's Juggling & Goodfella's Painting's 70-51 victory over T. Maliniak Masonry. Bill Durgan and Rob Proper each scored 11 points for Maliniak's.
Tom Lacey tossed in 21 points, followed by Evan Bracy with 14 and Ray Beebe 10 in Fesette Realty's 58-28 win over Rand Hill Painters/Architectural & Engineering Design Associates. Karl Weiss had 10 points in a losing cause.


Barracks golf course to open Friday

PLATTSBURGH — The Barrack's Golf Course will be open for the season Friday and voluntary course cleanup for members will be Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon.


Charles Pratt Road Race slated for May 12

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown Social Center will sponsor the Charles Pratt Memorial Road Race Saturday, May 12. The 4.4-mile race from Lewis to Elizabethtown is open to all.
Registration is at the Social Center will be from 8:30-9:45 a.m. with the race starting at 10 a.m. There will be transportation to the start line.
Interested individuals can contact Lisa Whalen at 873-6408 for an application. If applications are received by April 28, the runner will receive a free t-shirt.
