PLATTSBURGH — The number of donors streaming into the CVPH Blood Donor Center has trickled down now that the holiday season is over.

Although this region is not facing the acute blood shortage that New York City hospitals are coping with, the Blood Donor Center's supply is dwindling, Supervisor Steven Langevin said.

"People willingly give blood in December, when they're moved by the spirit of the season, but donations go down in January."

The center provides blood to four area hospitals: CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, Elizabethtown Community Hospital and Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone.
