CHAZY — Wilfred K. 'Maynard' Rougier, 71, of 98 Ratta Road died Thursday Jan. 20, 2000 on Route 191 in Altona. He was born in Plattsburgh on July 15, 1928 the son of Elmo and Marguerite (Chagnon) Rougier.
Mr. Rougier married Helen Sanger in Plattsburgh on April 23, 1950.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the early 1950's. He then worked on area construction sites, including Plattsburgh A.F.B., Interstate 87 and the missile sites.
For several years he was a boat mechanic for Haylet Marine at Point au Roche, and their successors, and later with the Day Brothers of Plattsburgh.
He was a member of the White Tail Deer Hunting Club and formerly a member of the Moose Club.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Edmund and Sue Rougier of Chazy and Maynard Owen Rougier of San Jose, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Melinda Mae and Gary Moreau of Whitby, Ontario, Canada; one brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Annette Rougier of West Chazy; one sister, Mary Rougier of Fall River, Mass.; six grandchildren, Danny and Nichole Rougier of Chazy, Jared and Miranda Rougier of San Jose, Calif. and Jason and Brian Moreau of Whitby, Ontario, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.
One son, Michael Anthony Rougier, died in 1979.
Calling hours will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services at the funeral home chapel will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Ingraham Cemetery in the Spring.
