Bloomingdale — William Rutherford Jr., age 82, of Prospect Avenue, Bloomingdale, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Locksprings, Mo. on April 21, 1917, he was the son of William and Lela Rutherford.
Mr. Rutherford enlisted in the U.S. Army in May of 1942. He served in the 79th Division in the European Theater from Normandy to Czechoslovakia. He received four campaign stars and Bronze Star Medal with cluster and retired Lt. Col. AUS.
Mr. Rutherford graduated from Central Methodist College with an A.B. degree and from the University of Michigan with a BSF and a M.F. He was Head of the Forestry Department at Paul Smith
