Dover Plains — Albert A. 'Sonny' McRoberts, 65, of Dover Plains, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at the Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie. He was born Dec. 11, 1934 in Dannemora, the son of Albert and Thelma (Watson) McRoberts.
He was a lontime resident of Dover Plains and worked for 35 years for Local 201 Plumber & Steam Fitters Union in Hyde Park, retiring in 1995. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He enjoyed hunting, golf and training beagles and was a member of the Poughkeepsie Elks Club, the Harlem Valley Golf Club and the Millbrook Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He married Barbara Tedford on Oct. 12. 1955; she died in February, 1986.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Terri McRoberts of Wassaic; a daughter, Donna McRoberts of Amenia; one brother, Russell McRoberts and family of Dover Plains; a companion, Connie Davis of Dover Plains; three grandchildren, Scottie, Melissa and Jennifer; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by two sisters, Jean Hart and Joan Tabor.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hufcut Funeral Home, Main Street, Dover Plains, N.Y. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 13, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Valley View Cemetery in Dover Plains.
