JAY — William H. Hathaway JR., 63, of Route 9n died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh as the result of an Mo-ped- car accident. He was born April 24, 1936, in Jay, the son of William and Elizabeth 'Thwaits' Hathaway Sr.
Bud was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Marine Corps from Sept. 10, 1953 to Sept. 9, 1956. He was a correctional officer at the Clinton Correctional Facility, Dannemora for 25 years retiring in 1985. Bud was also an avid sportsman.
He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in- law, Billie and Thomas Yando of Jay, Bonnie Hathaway of Md, and Torrie and Todd DeMar of Watertown; a son, William D. Hathaway III of Lake Placid; a step-daughter and a step-son-in-law, Gail and Richard Shehorn of Delaware; seven grandchildren and a dear friend Ramona Thwaits. His wife, Lorrie Hathaway died June 17, 1996, and his brother, Ashley Hathaway died August 1999.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service. Family and friends will gather Sunday at 2 p.m. at his residence in Jay. Memorials to his name may be made to the charity of ones choice. Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
