Peru — William N. Clary, age 70, of Peru and formerly of Marcy, passed away June 6, 2000, at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, where he had been a patient since March 2000.
Born on Aug. 19, 1929, in North Bangor, he was the son of the late David and Nina Berry Clary.
He attended school in the Bangor area. In 1949 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served in Panama. He was honorably discharged in 1952.
He was employed by Marcy State Hospital in Marcy, where he worked as an attendant until his retirement in 1987.
He was a member of the Whitestown American Legion Post 1113 in Whitesboro and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Plattsburgh. He enjoyed horse racing.
On Aug. 25, 1956, he was united in marriage to Mary Webb in New Canaan, Conn. She predeceased him in 1974.
Survivors include two sons, David Clary of Boonville and Steven and Karen Clary of Mohawk; one daughter, Bonnie and Jeff LeBuis of Barneveld; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by one brother, Bernard and Glenda Clary of Peru; and one sister, Arline Spencer of Saranac Lake.
Besided his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Wolfred Clary and Gerald Clary; and three sisters, Evelyn Wood, Elizabeth Clary and Florence Brabon.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 17, 2000, at 11:30 a.m. at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Cooks Corners, with the Rev. John Milligan officiating.
