Beekmantown — Mr. William C. 'Bill' Knuffke, 84, of Route 22, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at the CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 19, 1915, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Perry) Knuffke.
Bill was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 20 in Plattsburgh. He worked for 40 years in the vending busines, retiring from A. S. Hardy in 1978. Bill had served on the Plattsburgh Bowling Association Board of Directors. He enjoyed fishing, especially deep sea fishing off the coast of Maine and was well known for his pool playing.
Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marion (Ososki) Knuffke of Beekmantown; his children, William, Eric and Pearl; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Interment will follow at the Whispering Maples Mausoleum on the Tom Miller Road. A vigil service will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home. Members of the American Legion Post 20 are asked to meet Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home.
