Witherbee — Andrew J. Russo Sr., 90, of Broad Street in Witherbee, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt., following a short illness.
He was born on April 19, 1910, at Witherbee.
Andy was employed at the Republic Steel Iron Mines in Mineville for 42 years. He was a member of the Port Henry Council 384 Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Colleen and Brian Curler of Vergennes, Vt., and Karen Russo of Mineville; a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew Jr. and Lori Russo of North Hudson; two grandchildren, Darren Curler and Nicole Curler; five sisters, Angie Allard of Renssalear, Theresa Martin of Rhode Island, Evelyn Barbetta of Clifton Park, Josephine Brace of Mineville and Delores Burhart of Mineville; three brothers, James Fernandez of Moriah, Anthony Fernandez of Witherbee and Louis Fernandez of Mineville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Nina Russo; his son, Michael Russo; and three brothers, Joseph Russo, John Russo and Manuel Fernandez.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Church of All Saints in Mineville. Father Michael Toth will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
