SARANAC — Alexander H. Lamkins, 87, of the True Brook Road, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 15, 2000, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington.
He was born in Saranac on Dec. 4, 1912, the son of Edgar and Mabel (Siltz) Lamkins.
Mr. Lamkins married the former Margaret Keysor in 1948.
He was a member of the Saranac United Methodist Church and was a former trustee there. Mr. Lamkins was also past president and former trustee for Saranac Independence Cemetery.
He owned and operated the family farm in Saranac for many years until 1947, when he became highway superintendent for the Town of Saranac, until retiring in 1976.
Survivors include his wife Margaret; two daughters, Barbara LeDuc and her husband Raymond of Saranac and Margie Larsen and her husband Gale of Elizabethtown, Ky.; one sister, Mabel Leslie of Albany; five grandchildren, Raymond LeDuc and his wife Paulette, Scott LeDuc and Jeannine LeDuc, all of Saranac and Alex Larsen and Katie Larsen, both of Elizabethtown, Ky.; one great-grandchild, Jacob LeDuc; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Saranac United Methodist Church, followed by burial in Independence Cemetery.
