FT. COLLINS, COLO. — Angel Leigh Ackley, 23, of Ft. Collins, Colo., died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at University Hospital in Denver, Colo.
Angel was born on May 7 1978, in Tampa, Fla., the daughter of Patricia (Patti Dekker) Lennell and Lee T. Ackley.
She graduated from Ausable Valley High School in 1996 and attended Colorado State University for three years, majoring in Technical Journalism, before joining the U.S. Navy.
Angel was a Navy petty officer 3rd class and an aviation photographer. She served from April 1999 to 2001 at Fallon Naval Air Station in Fallon, Nev. She was released from the Navy to return to Colorado State University to join the AF ROTC and upon graduation from CSU would have become a commissioned officer in the Air Force, with a goal of becoming a helicopter pilot.
Angel enjoyed outdoor photography, music, camping, writing and her dogs Nermal and Kimo.
