CHATEAUGAY, N.Y. — Andrew Elmer, 10, of the Ryan Road in Chateaugay, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at his home, after a lengthy illness under the care of Hospice of the North Country.
He was born in Malone, N.Y., on Dec. 17, 1991, the son of Timothy and Angela (Yaddow) Elmer. They survive.
Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother, Christopher Elmer, 13; two sisters, Melissa Elmer, 15 and Amanda Elmer, 16, all of Chateaugay, N.Y.; his grandmother, Ruth Elmer of Massena, N.Y.; a stepgrandmother, Gladys Yaddow of Fort Covington, N.Y.; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Philip Elmer, in 1983; his maternal grandmother, Kathleen Yaddow, in 1994; and his maternal grandfather, Howard Yaddow, in 1999.
Andrew was a third grade student at Northern Adirondack Central School. He was an avid Scooby Doo fan and owned many of the Scooby Doo items. He was also a recent recipient of the Make-a-Wish Foundation in which the foundation provided him with a computer and had his bedroom redecorated in the Scooby Doo theme.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Chateaugay Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at 11 a.m. in St. Edmund's Church, Ellenburg, N.Y., with Rev. Joseph Weelock officiating.
