CHELMSFORD, MASS. — She was born in Whitehall, N.Y., on Feb. 25, 1914, the daughter of Harry Jesse and Mary Agnes (Hart) Childs.
Alice attended the Champlain Valley School of Nursing in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and finished her training as a registered nurse in 1937. While doing her student training at Champlain Valley Hospital, she met her husband, the late Reginald L. Stark of Altona, N.Y.
She spent the majority of her married life as an Air Force officer's wife, living in the Far East and Europe, as well as several assignments within the United States. During this time, she did private duty nursing and volunteered in several organizations, including the Volunteer Program at CVPH Medical Center. Upon her husband's retirement in 1970, she resided primarily in Plattsburgh. In 1998, following her husband's death, she moved to Chelmsford, Mass., to reside with her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary LaPorte and a son-in-law, Russell LaPorte, both from Chelmsford, Mass.; three grandsons, Marc Montminy of Gorham, Maine, Christian Montminy of Pelham, N.H., and Stephen Georges of Chelmsford, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass and burial services will take place on Tuesday, April 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's of the Lake in Plattsburgh. A reception for friends and family will follow at the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
