Chateaugay — Ada F. Bracy, 73, of the Healey Road, Chateaugay, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at her home under the care of her loving family and Hospice of the North Country.
She was born in Chateaugay, N.Y., on Dec. 7, 1928, the daughter of Leonard and Edna (Cook) Porter.
She was married to Robert Bracy on Nov. 27, 1948, in Burke, N.Y.
Mrs. Bracy is survived by her husband of 53 years; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Roger Bracy and companion, Sue Quilliam of Chateaugay, N.Y., Reginald and Debbie Bracy of West Chazy, N.Y., Bruce Bracy of Chateaugay, N.Y., and Kevin and Diana Bracy of Chateaugay, N.Y.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rada Porter of Chateaugay, N.Y., and Iris and Edward Peckham of Milford, Conn.; a brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Patricia Porter of Chateaugay, N.Y.; six grandchildren; four great - grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandson, Daniel Bracy.
Mrs. Bracy graduated from Chateaugay High School and following her marriage, she aided her husband in the operation of the family farm. She enjoyed gardening which included flowers and vegetables and taking long rides in the countryside.
She was a member of the Chateaugay United Methodist Church and the Bellmont Hi-Riders Snowmobile Club.
In her earlier years, she was a 4-H leader for the Chateaugay Club of Lads and Lassies, in which she took great pride in teaching kids how to show cows.
Friends and family are invited to a graveside service which will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Eastside Cemetery, Chateaugay. Following the committal prayers there will be a reception at the Knights of Columbus building in Chateaugay to celebrate and remember Ada
