Dr. Xenophon Damianos, local family physician, real estate developer, humanitarian, loving husband, father and grandfather, has died Feb. 4, 2003, from lung cancer at the age of 75.
Dr. Xenophon Jim Damianos will always be remembered for his outstanding fields of education, medicine and business. He possessed that combination of skill, intelligence, personality and perseverance that has produced not only an outstanding man, but also a truly professional individual. He was the type of person who knew first hand that the road to success is paved with hard work and sacrifice. He wasted little time in traveling that road.
Dr. Damianos, whose parents originated in Greece, was born and grew up in the Bronx. In 1945, he served as a young enlisted sailor aboard a naval escort carrier ship in the Atlantic. After World War II, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1951, and a Master of Arts degree in Education from New York University. He served as Science Department Chair at Seaford High School, and as president of the Seaford Teacher
