AuSable Forks — Agnes E. Betters, 87, of South Street, AuSable Forks, passed away at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003.
She was born June 4, 1915, in AuSable Forks, the daughter of Robert and Philamen (Bombard) Murcray.
She was a member of Holy Name Church Parish. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Agnes loved all children and also enjoyed her flowers. She was a homebody and enjoyed cooking and baking.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles Betters of Lake Placid and Richard and Janice Betters of Keeseville; two daughters, Rose Blaise of Peru and Phyllis Betters of AuSable Forks; also surviving are several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Those who predeceased her were her husband, Halsey Betters, whom she married Feb. 22, 1939; he died in 1999; her sisters, Susan Murcray, Helen Blaise, Adeline LaBombard and Rose Bezio; also several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday, March 2, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zaumetzer - Sprague Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Name Catholic Church, AuSable Forks. Burial will be at a later date in the family plot in the parish cemetery.
Memorials to her may be made to the AuSable Forks Volunteer Ambulance Service.
