Rotterdam — Albert A. Relation Sr., 79, of Augustine Avenue, Rotterdam, passed away into the Hands of the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2003, at his home after a long illness.
He was born on April 17, 1924, in Chazy, N.Y., a beloved son of the late Willis and Margaret (Favro) Relation.
Albert has resided in the local area since 1947. He married the former Louise Gallo on May 25, 1957, at St. Columba Church, Schenectady. Albert was employed by the General Electric Co. of Schenectady as a crane operator. He retired in 1980. From 1989 to 1990 he was the Exalted Ruler of the Guilderland Elks. He also held a term as president for the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Albert was a communicant of Our Lady of Assumption Church.
After his retirement he was the owner and operator of Al's Sharping of Altamont, N.Y. He spent his spare time with his beloved family, traveling in his motor home, NASCAR and watching WWF wrestling.
Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by five loving sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Ruth Relation of Peru, N.Y., Patrick and Marietta Relation of Paulsboro, N.J., Kenneth and Peggy Relation of Augusta, Ga., Albert A. and Diane Relation Jr. of Schenectady and Richard and Tricia Relation of Rotterdam. Albert also leaves behind 18 loving grandchildren and 8 loving great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two loving sisters, Patricia (Bert) Smith of Owls Head, N.Y., and Theresa Rabideau of Morrisonville, N.Y.
He was predeceased by a son, Dale Relation; and four sisters, Dorothy Dupry, Betty Ydjkowksi, Shirley Herwerth and Evangeline Branson.
Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, Inc., 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, N.Y., on Sunday, June 22, 2003, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23, 2003, at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Immediately following, a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Princetown Road, Rotterdam. Interment will be in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Troy-Schenectady Road, Niskayuna, N.Y.
