CROWN POINT — Aileen G. Newell, 90, of Crown Point, N.Y., passed away on July 1, 2003.
She was born on Oct. 9, 1912, in Mineville, N.Y., the daughter of the late John and Mary Grogan.
Aileen graduated from Mineville High School and Plattsburgh State College. She taught at Moriah school for four years and at Crown Point Elementary for 27 years. She enjoyed walking, swimming, golfing, traveling and she bowled on the same team for 40 years.
Her survivors include Jack and Joan Newell of Fort Edward, Patricia Justice of Colonie, Richard and Edna Newell of Whitehall, and Alan and Jill Newell of Fort Edward; one sister, Eleanor McKenzie of North Hudson; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Aileen was the widow of George A. Newell, who passed away on Feb. 2, 2001. She was also predeceased by two brothers, John and Mark Grogan, and one sister, Yvonne Michalak.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 3, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 5, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Crown Point, with burial to follow at the White Church Cemetery, Crown Point.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crown Point Rescue Squad.
