WILLSBORO — Amalie (Omi) Lechleitner passed away in her home on Oct. 19, 2003.
She was born May 10, 1903, in Rodach, Germany, daughter of Frieda and Max Gunther. She came to the United States in April 1923. In 1929, she married Emil Lechleitner, who passed away in 1977.
They resided in New York City until 1962, when they moved to Hopewell Junction. From 1977 until 1982, Omi lived in Lake Placid, where, as a senior citizen, she was very active as a volunteer for the Olympics of 1980. From 1982 until her death, she resided in Willsboro.
During her lifetime, Mrs. Lechleitner raised three children and worked many jobs, including: private personal cook, hairdresser, school aide and school cook. Her volunteer work also included assisting the Heart Fund and the New York City School System.
Omi was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by one sister and five brothers. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, George and Dolores Lechleitner of Millbrook, N.Y.; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor and Ken Maher of Hyde Park, N.Y.; and Linda and Kent Cauley of Willsboro.
Omi had eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. The family will have a graveside service at Nine Partners Cemetery in Millbrook at a future date. In lieu of flowers and donations, Omi
