Ticonderoga — Arthur R. Tuffy Hurlburt, 63, of Wiley Street, passed away Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at the Glens Falls Hospital.
Born in Ticonderoga, July 24, 1941, he was the son of the late Raymond and Altina (Bacon) Hurlburt.
Mr. Hurlburt was a lifetime resident of Ticonderoga and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Cross of Ticonderoga.
He was employed by International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for many years and was a member of the Company's Quarter Century Club.
Mr. Hurlburt served on the Ticonderoga Fire Department for many years before becoming a member of the Ticonderoga Fire Police. He was also a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks 1494 of Ticonderoga.
He was predeceased by two infant sons.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Beverly (O'Dell) Hurlburt; one son, Paul Hurlburt Sr. and his wife Tammy of Troy; three brothers, Donald Hurlburt of Middlebury, Vt., Raymond Hurlburt of Ticonderoga and Terry Hurlburt of Schenectady; and two sisters, Edith Brown and Carol Fogg, both of Ticonderoga. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Paul Hurlburt Jr., Blair Elizabeth Hurlburt, Annette Marie Hurlburt, Amanda Catherine Hurlburt and Destiny Wood; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin Street, Ticonderoga. The Ticonderoga Elks will conduct a Lodge of Sorrow at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. The Ticonderoga Fire Department will conduct a Ritualistic Service following the Elk's.
A Requiem Eucharistic Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Cross of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Marjorie Floor, Rector, will officiate.
Interment will follow at the family plot of the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Ticonderoga.
