Westport — Alfred J. Tefoe, 100, formerly of Pleasant Street, Westport, died Thursday, April 1, 2004, at the Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown.
He was born in Newcomb on March 25, 1904, the son of David and Elizabeth (Bouchard) Tefoe.
He worked for the D & H Railroad for many years.
Al was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Frances (McCarthy) Tefoe of Westport, whom he married Aug. 6, 1939, in Westport; seven sons and two daughters-in-law, Alfred Bill and Patricia Tefoe of Syracuse, Ray Tefoe, George Tefoe and John Tefoe, all of Westport, James and Sharron Tefoe of Connecticut, and Tim and Joseph Tefoe, both of Westport; three daughters, Elizabeth Betty and Doug Stevens of Westport, Linda and Martin Mose of Mechanicville and Mary and Bill Kelley of Westport; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Peter Tefoe.
There will be no public calling hours. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the St. Philip Neri Cemetery in Westport with Monsignor John McAvoy, pastor of St. Patrick's Church in Port Henry and the Church of All Saint's in Mineville, officiating.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Westport Emergency Squad or the Horace Nye Nursing Home.
