Peru — Wilma M. McGrath, 75, of the Clinton County Nursing Home and formerly of the Lapham Mills Road, Peru, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Peru, Nov. 9, 1929, the daughter of Loney D. and Sarah M. (Abare) Wells.
She was a 1948 graduate of Peru Central School.
She was a life member and past president of the Peru Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 309 and past County President of the VFW. She was also an active member of the Republican Committee.
Wilma enjoyed cooking, gardening and playing Bingo.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Edwin L. McGrath Sr., whom she married March 16, 1957, at the Peru Community Church; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tresah McGrath of Peru and Janet and Richard Calkins of Schuyler Falls; one son, Edwin L. McGrath Jr. of West Chazy; a daughter-in-law, Karen McGrath of Chazy; six grandchildren, Melissa, Jeremy and Christina Calkins and Edwin III, Madeline and Kallie McGrath; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Arnold Wells and James and Gertrude Wells, all of Peru; a special niece, Nancy Wells; and many other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; one brother, Dorsey Wells; and four sisters, Beulah Way, Florence Laramie, Martha Way and Genevieve Giddings.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Parker officiating. Burial will follow in God
