AUSABLE FORKS — Wilford "Willie" LaHart, 94, of Mountain View Farm, in AuSable Forks, passed into the hands of the Lord on Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
He was born Aug. 2, 1911, the son of Oncio, and Lizzy (Sharrow) LaHart in Black Brook, N.Y.
He was a life long resident of "The Valley" and was a friend to all of his neighbors and anyone in need. Willie had a long successful career beginning with taking over the family farm when his father died, and was also a logger. He was very active in the Black Brook Republican Party, serving several terms as Town of Black Brook Highway Superintendent. Willie thoroughly enjoyed watching the Montreal Canadians hockey team and going out to eat with his many friends. He was a member of St. Matthew's Church in Black Brook.
Willie is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary LaHart of Dannemora; two nephews, Roy LaHart Jr. and his wife Cathy and their son Jonathon of Plattsburgh, Robert "Bob" LaHart and his wife Kathy and their children, Amy, Abby, Anna and Jim of Saranac.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Minnie Lewis and Flora Borrette a brother Roy LaHart Sr. as well as his lifelong companion, Ann Rushia.
At Wilford's request there will be no calling hours.
A memorial Mass will be held Monday, June 5, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew's Church in Black Brook, N.Y. The Rev. Phillip Allen pastor of Holy Name and St. Matthews will be officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
