NORWOOD, N.Y. — Funeral services for Abraham C. Ruvalcaba, E6, 28, of 306 Murphy Rd., Norwood, N.Y., will be held Friday at 2 p.m. with full military honors at the Phillips Memorial Home in Waddington. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in Waddington. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Waddington.
Mr. Ruvalcaba died from leukemia on Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt. He is survived by his wife Barbara of Norwood; his mother, Emelia Ruvalcaba of San Blas, Mexico; two sisters and two brothers, Angelica Ruvalcaba and Julia Ruvalcaba, Alberto Ruvalcaba and Ernesto Ruvalcaba, all of Tijuana, Mexico.
Born March 16, 1978, in San Blas, Mexico, the son of Alfonso and Emelia (Durran) Ruvalcaba. He graduated from Castle Park High School in San Diego, Calif. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1997. He married Barbara Ball on June 22, 2000, at the United Methodist Church in Potsdam. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Ft. Bragg, N.C. He later returned to duty in the infantry at Fort Drum, N.Y., as a paratrooper; he completed 302 jumps. He later was a recruiter in Malone for four years and then in Plattsburgh. He enjoyed participating in paint ball, propelling and hunting.
