ELLENBURG CENTER — Alice M. Smith, 62, of Ellenburg Center, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 24, 1943, the daughter of Vernon and Gertrude (Gregory) Thibeau.
She was employed as a secretary and tax collector for Northern Adirondack Central School in Ellenburg for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed camping and was an avid jewelry collector.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, James and Sarah Smith of Chazy, David Smith of Altona, Mark Smith and companion Jessica Billings of Ellenburg Center; a brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Arlene Thibeau of Ellenburg Center; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Nathalie and Jack Finlayson, Diana and James McNeil, Susan and James Tourville all of Ellenburg Center; two grandchildren, Danielle Miller and Michael Smith; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog "Chi-Chi." Her husband, Louis D. "Smitty" Smith Jr. died in 2004. Her parents also died earlier.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the E. F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday from St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the S.P.C.A. or the Ellenburg Center Fire Department.
