TICONDEROGA — Albert Ernest Contois, 76, of Moncks Corner, S.C., and formerly of Ticonderoga, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at a North Charleston, S.C., hospital.
Born Nov. 8, 1929, in Ticonderoga, he was the son of Romeo and Irene (Mercer) Contois.
Mr. Contois was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War and was the recipient of a Purple Heart.
He was employed as a machine tender for International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for many years before his retirement.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Randy Fuller of Ticonderoga; a son and daughter-in-law, Albert E. and Darcy Contois Jr. of Moncks Corner, S.C.; a sister, Claire Alfano of Glens Falls; and four grandchildren, Amanda Contois, Craig Belden, Christopher Belden and Franklin Shaffer.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.
A Memorial Service will follow on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
