MOOERS FORKS — Alphegina M. "Gina" Snide, 72, of Mooers Forks, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at her residence.
She was born in Rouses Point on June 8, 1934, the daughter of William and Alphegina (Gelinault) Berthiaume.
She was employed for many years as a liturgical garment maker for the Pampalon company in Champlain.
She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks and served on the parish council. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann and was a past president.
Gina was well known in the area for her talents as a quilter.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Christine Snide of Mooers, Ronald and June Snide of Altona, Jerry and Joanne Snide of Wooster, Ohio, and Danny and Pam Snide of Mooers Forks; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen Lashway and companion John Leistner of Rouses Point, Dianne and Eric Schwartz of Rouses Point, Jenny and Jake Ashline of Champlain and Donna Danforth and companion Larry Carbonneau of Mooers; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Florence LaMonda of Plattsburgh, Leila Cayea of Ellenburg and Gloria and Robert Genereux of Champlain; 29 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Roland H. Snide died on May 19, 1997. A son, Claude; a daughter, Nora Langford; a brother, Maurice Berthiaume; and two sisters, Rita Gordon and Sally Berthiaume, also died earlier.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. The Ladies of St. Ann will meet at 7 p.m. at the funeral home for services. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday from St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.
