PLATTSBURGH — William A. Katz, 78, of Hope Drive, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, at CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 1, 1928, son of the late Michael J. and Dorothy Isabelle (Martin) Katz.
William was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School. He attended college in Wingate, N.C., and Jacksonville, N.C. William joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving for 30 years. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam. William was a landlord in the city of Plattsburgh after his retirement. He was an avid lottery player.
William is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Neva and James W. Provost of Plattsburgh, Alicia and Larry Buskey of Plattsburgh; five grandchildren, William R. Katz and his wife Kelly of Pensacola, Fla., Joshua S. Outen and his wife Jennifer of Peru, Westley T. Outen and his wife Becky of Plattsburgh, Savannah Ashley and her fiancÃ© Eric Lucas of Plattsburgh, Larry Buskey Jr.; many step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Charles Willer, Joshua Outen, Christopher Outen, Kyler Katz, Hailey Katz, Lillian Outen; many step-great-grandchildren; three brothers and a sister-in-law, John Katz and his wife Annette of Poughkeepsie, Robert Katz of Phoenix, Ariz., Martin Katz of Germany; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Katz of Plattsburgh, Juanita Coan of North Carolina, Ruth Ann and Nicholas Welch of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
William was predeceased by his wife, Alice I. Katz in 1990; two sons, twins Larry and Gary Katz; two grandchildren, Andrea Outen, Christopher Buskey; and a brother, Carl Katz.
Calling hours will be Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.
