CHAMPLAIN, NY/ALBURGH, VT — Adam Allen Poquette, 22, a longtime resident of Champlain, N.Y., died late Wednesday evening, Nov. 22, 2006, in a tragic fire at the family hunting camp in Craftsbury, Vt.
Born in Saint Albans, Vt., on Dec. 29, 1983, Adam was the son of Allen and Karen (Mumley) Poquette.
He graduated from Northeastern Clinton Central School with a Regents Diploma in 2003. Adam worked for the Alburgh Mobile Shortstop for several years before transferring to Vermont Precision Tools in Swanton, Vt.
Adam was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He waited in great excitement and anticipation each year to spend the hunting season in the chilly woods of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Adam thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his brother and sisters and liked working with gas powered cars and remote controlled airplanes.
Adam leaves his father and stepmother, Allen and Darlene Poquette of Champlain, N.Y.; his mother and stepfather, Karen and David Aulis of Alburgh, Vt.; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Maryann Poquette of Alburgh; paternal grandparents, Diane and Bob Marks of Rouses Point, N.Y., and paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Frances Poquette of Alburgh; maternal grandparents, Elaine and Vernon James of Alburgh; one brother, Joshua Poquette of Champlain; two sisters, Rachel Maskell and husband Joshua of Rouses Point and Rebecca Poquette of Champlain; very special friends, Larry and Pauline Santor of Alburgh; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The Liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, (for reasons of space), 65 Canada Street, Swanton, Vt. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Poquette family lot in Saint Amadeus Roman Catholic Cemetery, Alburgh. Relatives and friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, Vt., on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
