WESTPORT — Albert F. Schaad, 77, of South Main Street, Westport, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital.
He was born in Brooklyn, May 13, 1929, the son of Albert F. and Phyllis (Hanson) Schaad.
Albert served in the U.S. Army. He was employed for 24 years as a New York State trooper and retired in 1985 as sergeant and Troop B station commander at the Westport Barracks. Prior to his law enforcement career he was a pipe fitter.
He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Karen and Alan Pauley of The Villages, Fla., and Anne Schaad of Kents Hill, Maine; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Peter and MaryAnne Schaad of Southern Pine, N.C., and Richard and Joan Schaad of Painted Post; one sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and David Daglio of Boston, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his loving wife, Janet A. (Griff) Schaad, who died Nov. 19, 1986.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Church in Westport with the Rev. Peter R. Riani, parish pastor, celebrating. Burial and military honors will follow in the parish cemetery.
