CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — Amelia E. (LaGoy) Wilczak, age 90, formerly of Vernon and East Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1, 2007, at M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua.
She is survived by four children, David (Debbie) Seguin of Erieville, N.Y., Robert (Nancy) Seguin of Ellenburg Depot, N.Y., Donna (Kevin) Kamholtz of Canandaigua and Daniel Wilczak of East Syracuse; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Fred (Lucy) LaGoy of Cadyville, N.Y., Richard (Rose) LaGoy, Leeward (Elizabeth) LaGoy, both of Vernon; brother-in-law Roman (Caroline) Wilczak of Vernon Center, N.Y.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Lester Seguin in 1954 and Joseph V. Wilczak in 1990; her brothers, William, Albert and Francis LaGoy; her sister, Lucille Coryea.
Mrs. Wilczak was born in Altona, N.Y., the daughter of Henry and Heloise (LaFreniere) LaGoy. She worked as a waitress for over 40 years and had worked at Dibble's Inn in Vernon, Three Rivers Inn, Hotel Syracuse, Leederkrantz Club, Corinthian Club, Holiday Inn in Syracuse and the Holiday Inn in East Syracuse. Mrs. Wilczak loved being with her family and friends, touching the lives of many people. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed entertaining, cooking, sewing, arts and crafts. She was always there to lend a helping hand. Mrs. Wilczak was a former member of St. Matthew's parish in East Syracuse. She was a member of St. Matthew's Church Altar and Rosary Society, Toastmasters USA, Fayetteville Garden Club, Syracuse Rose Society, Wagon Wheel Senior Club in Syracuse. She was a girl scout leader in East Syracuse, Fremont, Kirkville, N.Y., areas. Mrs. Wilczak won multiple blue ribbons for her plants/flowers and quilts at the New York State fair. She was also recognized for her cooking and baking recipes. She won awards for public speaking with Toastmasters USA.
There will be no calling hours. Her memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Peterboro Street, in Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, 358 Parrish St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
