DUBLIN, GA. — Aleata E. (Raffield) Sterner passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, in Dublin, Ga., with her daughter, Gwen by her side.
Lee was born in Burlington, Vt., the daughter of the late Joseph Sears and Catherine (Bassett) Sears.
She lived in Plattsburgh, N.Y., for 25 years working at Montgomery Ward and as the local director of the Heart Association in Plattsburgh and assisted as a LPN at Physicians Hospital. She was a devout Catholic and avid member of Our Lady of Victory Church on South Catherine Street.
Lee was preceded in death by her first husband, Doyle L. Raffield; and oldest daughter, Sharyn L. (Raffield) Perry.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Sterner of Dublin, Ga.; daughters, Gwen L. (Chappell) Squires of Waynesville, Ga., Cathy Jo (Raffield) Daniel of Duncanville, Texas; and son, C. Kelly Raffield of Ledyard, Conn. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Dublin, Ga., at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday Jan. 10, 2007, with friends and family in attendance.
